Arsenal Push For Viktor Gyökeres As Striker Sacrifices Salary To Secure Move

The talks between Arsenal and Sporting CP for Viktor Gyökeres have moved forward after the 27-year-old striker agreed to give up €2 million from his proposed five-year salary. This move is to help the Premier League side meet Sporting’s financial demands. Arsenal have offered €60 million with €10 million in add-ons, which is close to Sporting’s demand for more than €60 million. Gyökeres reportedly wants to join Arsenal and has told Sporting he will not play for them again after a dispute with the club president. Arsenal hope to finalize the deal soon and want Gyökeres to join their squad for the Asian pre-season tour that starts on July 19.

The lack of a consistent goalscorer proved to be a key factor in that failure. Gyökeres had a stellar campaign with Sporting last season, scoring 54 goals in 52 matches, which helped Sporting clinch the Primeira Liga title.
