Arsenal Secure Eberechi Eze Transfer in Dramatic Deadline Move

Arsenal have reached a full agreement with Crystal Palace for the signing of Eberechi Eze. They completed the paperwork just in time to register him for their next Premier League match against Leeds.

DEAL COMPLETED AT THE LAST MINUTE

Arsenal acted quickly to sign Eze after key midfielder Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury. The north London side agreed a deal worth £67.5 million—including £60 million upfront and £7.5 million in add-ons—with Crystal Palace. Eze, 27, had been close to joining Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the week, but Arsenal’s late intervention changed everything. Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed Eze had withdrawn from their UEFA Conference League squad and was not expected to play for Palace again. Eze is now wrapping up his medical and final contract details, with the intention to register him before the noon deadline, making him eligible to feature against Leeds.

ARSENAL, PALACE, AND EZE: SEASON SO FAR

This season, Arsenal have started strong, currently sitting third in the Premier League table after their opener games, level on points with every winner from the league’s opening mathcday. The squad has looked sharp but needed additional creativity after Havertz’s injury. Eze has shone for Palace, starring in their 0-0 draw at Chelsea last week. He scored 12 goals and delivered 5 assists in last year’s Premier League campaign, establishing himself as one of the top attacking midfielders outside the ‘Big Six’. Palace have made a solid start themselves, winning the Community Shield and celebrated a win in their first-ever major European fixture, though Eze missed that match amid transfer speculation.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR ARSENAL AND EZE?

If the registration is completed before midday, Eze is set to join Arsenal’s squad for Saturday’s home clash with Leeds. Leeds also won their opener, against Everton, and will try to leave the Emirates with a positive result, making this a crucial match for both teams. Meanwhile, Palace, now preparing for a match against Nottingham Forest, will quickly need to adapt to life without their star midfielder as they also look ahead to the second leg against Fredrikstad in the Conference League. Arsenal fans will be eager to see if Eze can make an instant impact in a team fighting for the title.
