AS Monaco Rule Out Move for Manchester United Goalkeeper André Onana

AS Monaco have announced that they are not in talks to sign Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana, quelling transfer rumors.

NO DEAL FOR ONANA

Recent reports suggested Monaco were interested in acquiring Onana as their first-choice goalkeeper. However, both Monaco and sources close to Onana have stated that no negotiations are underway. Onana remains at Manchester United for now, while Monaco will look for other goalkeeping options.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR MANCHESTER UNITED

Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan with a significant transfer fee in the summer of 2023. He played in every Premier League match in the 2024/25 season, keeping 10 clean sheets in 38 league games. Despite some notable errors, United finished sixth and secured Europa League qualification.

As plans for a replacement delay, the Red Devils are expected to focus on reinforcing other positions in their squad this summer. They also have Tom Heaton as a valuable back-up option after he signed a new one-year contract extension with the club recently.

According to a previous report we published, Tom Heaton’s new contract with Manchester United provides stability and experience in the goalkeeping department.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ONANA AND MONACO?

Monaco, who finished fourth in Ligue 1 and will compete in Europe next season, continue their search for a new goalkeeper. Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Wojciech Szczesny have been mentioned as potential targets.

Manchester United, on the other hand, are preparing for the upcoming season. They are set to face Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season friendly next, followed by a Europa League qualifier against either Oostende or Dundalk.
