Aston Villa Make Nico Jackson Their Top Transfer Target

Aston Villa want to sign striker Nico Jackson. They want to reunite him with manager Unai Emery. Jackson is their top summer target.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Aston Villa are in talks to sign Chelsea‘s Nico Jackson. Unai Emery coached Jackson at Villarreal and helped him start his senior career there. Newcastle United and top Italian clubs also want the Senegal international. As per a recent update, Chelsea want at least £80 million for Nicolas Jackson, while Aston Villa values him closer to £60 million. With Chelsea signing new strikers, Jackson is available for transfer.

Villa are trying to structure a deal that fits their budget. They may need to make sacrifices or be creative to sign Jackson.

ASTON VILLA’S SEASON SO FAR

Aston Villa finished last season strongly, securing a top six spot and a place in the Europa League. They finished sixth in the Premier League, qualifying them for the UEFA Europa League. Morgan Rogers was a key performer with 54 appearances. He contributed significantly with goals and assists but hw has left the team and joined Newcastle. However, Villa seeks more firepower after drawing 0-0 in their first Premier League match against Newcastle, a match which ended in a goalless draw.

Villa’s next match is against Brentford, who lost their first match against Nottingham. Villa hope Jackson can boost their attack as they aim to close the gap to fourth place, which is guaranteed to get Champions League football next season.

WHAT NEXT FOR JACKSON, CHELSEA, AND VILLA?

Jackson scored 13 goals for Chelsea last season, making 37 appearances. However, with the arrival of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, competition has increased for him. A recent report confirmed that Nicolas Jackson will not be in Chelsea’s squad for their next Premier League game against West Ham. He was left out of the squad for that match.

Villa need to act fast to sign Jackson as other clubs remain interested. If they agree on terms and fit the deal financially, Jackson will join a team aiming for a strong season. His arrival could boost Villa’s chase for another top six finish and progress in the Europa League, starting with matches against Everton and Brighton soon.
