Barcelona President Confirms: No More Summer Signings Expected

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that the club does not plan to make further signings this summer. He says the squad is strong and the coach will turn to reserve players for more depth.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Joan Laporta explained that, after recent arrivals, Barcelona’s transfers are done for the summer. The club signed goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Espanyol for €25 million, brought in young striker Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen for €2 million plus incentives, and secured Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United with a €30 million purchase option.According to a report, Barcelona will pay Rashford’s full wage of £325,000 a week. Laporta and coach Hansi Flick believe the team already has quality. The focus will be on promoting players from the reserves instead of making more purchases at this stage.

BARÇA’S SQUAD AND RECENT SIGNINGS

This transfer window, Barcelona’s approach has been to keep the core of last season’s squad, which saw success in both domestic and European competitions. The club has prioritized stability by keeping their key players despite outside interest. Rashford is expected to offer versatility in attack, while Garcia brings competition for the goalkeeper position. Roony Bardghji, although initially joining the youth team, could make a push for first-team minutes given his preseason performances. Hansi Flick is keen to integrate several promising youth talents into the senior squad, and Bardghji will join the team on their Asian tour.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE NEW SEASON

Barcelona will start their La Liga campaign next month, aiming to keep the position they finished in last season, first place ahead of Real Madrid. Their first match is against Mallorca, who finished mid-table last season. Barcelona are currently expected to put a strong starting lineup, with new signings and reserve players fighting for places. The club finished ahead of Real Madrid last season and 3rd place Atletico Madrid, meaning every match will be vital in the tight race for the title. Cup and Champions League fixtures will add to Hansi Flick’s challenge as he blends youth and experience in the coming months.
