Barcelona Set For Financial Boost As Club Expects €950m In Revenue
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has announced that the club expects to earn around €950 million in revenue. This puts them in a strong position to comply with La Liga’s financial regulations.
TURNING THEIR FINANCES AROUND
The Catalan giants are projecting nearly €950 million in revenue, an amount Laporta described as “almost a billion euros.” It represents a huge improvement in Barcelona‘s financial outlook compared to recent years, when the club struggled with debt and financial restrictions. The club president also expressed confidence that Barcelona will comply with La Liga‘s strict 1:1 financial rule, which governs how much clubs can spend relative to their income.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SUCCESS FILLS THE COFFERS
The club has secured around €116.65 million from its European campaign. This figure comes very close to their previous record of €117.73 million earned when they reached the semi-finals in the 2018-2019 seasons, and they are expected to break that record once revenue from all competitions are finalised.
The club earned €15 million just for reaching the semi-final stage, and also received €7 million in bonus payments for scoring more points than expected in the league phase of the competition. Their “value pillar” earnings have already reached €22.44 million and this figure is expected to increase further when final calculations are completed.
The TV pool’s earnings are key for the club too. They will earn €2 million for their placing in the semi-final round, bringing their total earnings from this pillar to €16.74 million. Additionally, the club has already brought in player bonuses worth €10.34 million from the competition.
THE POTENTIAL IMPACT OF WINNING THE LA LIGA TITLE
As La Liga champions, Barcelona would receive around 17 per cent of the total pool, which is based on their UEFA coefficient ranking in previous years. This alone would see them bag around €58.4 million based on current figures.
When this is combined with other performance and market variables payments, Barcelona’s earnings from a La Liga triumph could exceed €200 million. It’s worth noting that Barcelona currently have the opportunity to clinch the title in their upcoming Clasico against Real Madrid, which would be a perfect scenario for the club both sportingly and financially.
WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA
The club’s 2024-25 budget reflects their improved financial trajectory, with commercial income growing strongly and the Barca brand regaining strength in the marketplace. The club has established a more balanced and growth-oriented economic structure.
Stadium revenues are projected to increase from €126 million to €154 million, representing a €28 million boost for the upcoming season. This financial resurgence provides Barca with greater flexibility for future planning, potentially allowing them more freedom in the transfer market while maintaining compliance with La Liga’s financial rules.
