Benjamin Šeško’s Future: Special Release Clause Could Trigger Big Summer Move

Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško might leave RB Leipzig this summer. A special agreement makes his price lower for a group of top clubs. The Bundesliga team is ready to sell Šeško for €70-80 million plus an extra €5-10 million in add-ons. This is only if he wants to join one of the clubs he thinks are “special.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

Šeško and RB Leipzig have a special agreement. It is only for certain top clubs he approves of. If a suitable team approaches Leipzig and Šeško wants to join them, the German club will drop its asking price. According to a previous report, it was as high as €100 million before. Now, it is lower. This makes the 22-year-old striker more attractive to clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United. These clubs have shown interest recently. Newcastle may see Šeško as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak if he leaves this summer.

SEŠKO’S IMPACT & RB LEIPZIG’S SEASON

Šeško had a strong 2024/25 season in the Bundesliga, scoring 21 goals and providing six assists, making him one of Europe’s best young forwards. RB Leipzig finished seventh in the Bundesliga. and failed to secure any european football for this season. Leipzig’s next game is a DFB-Pokal tie before starting their Bundesliga campaign against reigning champions Bayern Munich. With many senior players likely to leave, and the attack possibly losing both Šeško and Loïs Openda, Leipzig may have to rebuild their squad soon.

TRANSFER RACE: WHAT COMES NEXT?

Clubs on Šeško’s “special” list now have a chance to agree on personal terms and activate the lower release clause. Arsenal, who just finished second in the Premier League and want to improve their striking options after a strong but trophy-less campaign, are leading the race despite having signed Gyokeres earlier this week. Manchester United, rebuilding after a mixed season, and Newcastle—who are waiting to see what will happen with Alexander Isak—are still interested. Negotiations are expected to speed up as pre-season ends and teams prepare for the 2025/26 campaign. Leipzig’s willingness to sell at this price is a key moment in one of the summer’s most-followed transfer stories.
