Bologna Extend Italiano’s Contract Until 2027

Vincenzo Italiano has extended his contract with Bologna, keeping him at the club until June 2027. He agreed to terms after a successful season with the team.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bologna announced on Thursday that Italiano‘s contract is extended to June 30, 2027. After a meeting with club officials, Italiano signed a new deal with a salary of €3 million per year, along with performance bonuses.

His extension is a big commitment by Bologna as they aim to build on their recent achievements.

ITALIANO CHOSES BOLOGNA OVER MILAN

Italiano chose to stay at Bologna despite significant interest from AC Milan, who viewed him as their top option to replace Sergio Conceicao. Milan reportedly offered him €4 million annually, but Bologna persuaded him to stay by promising a competitive transfer budget and a commitment to the club’s ambitions.

Bologna enjoyed a memorable season under Italiano. Despite selling key players, they remained competitive and won the Coppa Italia, capturing their first major trophy in 51 years. They also competed for a top-four Serie A finish, challenging Italy’s top clubs.

BOLOGNA’S FUTURE PLANS

With Italiano now committed to Bologna’s future, the club can focus on strengthening their squad for the upcoming season. Bologna plans to maintain their competitive edge and pursue European qualification. Sporting director Claudio Fenici has expressed satisfaction with securing Italiano’s future.

The club will now enter the transfer market with confidence, aiming to build on their Coppa Italia success and establish themselves as regular contenders in Italian football’s top tier. They face the challenge of balancing European and domestic competition next season while maintaining their high level of performance.
