Borges Sanches Leaves Borussia Mönchengladbach to Join Heracles Almelo
Yvandro Borges Sanches has moved from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Dutch Eredivisie club Heracles Almelo. He signed a deal until June 2028. The transfer is worth €500,000, and Mönchengladbach can buy him back.
WHAT HAPPENED?
21-year-old Borges Sanches left Borussia Mönchengladbach to join Heracles Almelo for more playing time. He passed his medical in the Netherlands and agreed to a four-year contract. Mönchengladbach will receive a €500,000 fee and can buy him back for €2.5 million. Borges Sanches joined Gladbach’s academy in 2020 but only played 41 minutes with the first team.
HERACLES ALMELO AND GLADBACH: CURRENT SITUATION
Heracles Almelo are trying to strengthen their team after finishing 15th in the Eredivisie last season. They need more attacking options and hope Borges Sanches can help them. In Germany, Mönchengladbach finished 10th and 7 points away from European qualification. Borges Sanches wasn’t able to become a regular player, leading to the transfer.
LOOKING AHEAD: THE NEXT STEPS FOR PLAYER AND CLUBS
As the new Eredivisie season starts soon, Heracles Almelo will face FC Volendam first, another team that battled relegation last season. Borges Sanches wants regular playing time to help both his club and his international career. Mönchengladbach, who play newly-promoted Hamburg next in the Bundesliga, will keep an eye on his progress because of the buy-back clause. Both teams are keen to improve their standings in the league.
