Bruno Fernandes Rejects Lucrative Al Hilal Move to Remain at Top Level

Bruno Fernandes has decided to stay at Manchester United despite a huge transfer offer from Al Hilal. He wants to continue playing at the highest level in European football. Even though Manchester United had a tough season, Fernandes said his ambition and love for top competition helped him make his choice.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Al Hilal, the champions of the Saudi Pro League, offered Fernandes around $100 million to join their team. Fernandes, who is the captain of Manchester United, said there were serious talks about the move. Having fellow Portuguese player João Cancelo at Al Hilal also made it tempting for his family.

However, after talking to Manchester United’s management, his agent, and coach Ruben Amorim, Fernandes chose to stay at Old Trafford. He said, “I want to stay at the top, playing elite football. I feel ready. It was considered, but my decision is made.”

FERNANDES’ SEASON AND UNITED’S STRUGGLES

Fernandes was Manchester United’s best player this season. He scored 19 goals in 57 games. Since joining from Sporting CP in 2020, he has scored 98 goals and provided 86 assists in 290 matches. Despite his efforts, the club had a terrible season. They finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham. These poor results raised questions about the future of several key players, including Fernandes.

WHAT NEXT FOR FERNANDES AND UNITED?

By rejecting Al Hilal’s offer, Fernandes remains a Manchester United player. However, with another transfer window open, there is still uncertainty about his future. The club desperately needs improvement after their worst-ever Premier League finish. United’s next official match is at the start of the 2025-26 season, and they will be aiming to bounce back from last year’s failures. Fernandes’ decision shows his commitment to competing at the highest level, but the pressure for results at Old Trafford will continue to grow.
