Bryan Mbeumo Completes Manchester United Transfer and Takes Iconic Number 19 Shirt
Manchester United have secured the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, with the forward joining for a fee of £65 million plus £6 million in add-ons. He will be the latest player to wear the famous number 19 jersey at Old Trafford.
WHAT HAPPENED
Ruben Amorim has finally secured his man. United appear to be freeing up funds for a summer transfer splash by signing Mbeumo, who has scored 10 goals in 22 Premier League appearances this season, and is joining Matheus Cunha as they try to revamp United’s attack, which was the 2nd worst of teams that did not get relegated last season, only ahead of Everton’s.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mbeumo leaves Brentford as one of their greatest ever players, having scored 70 goals and provided 51 assists in 242 matches for the club. The forward moved to Liverpool Road in 2021 from PSG’s academy, then found his feet in West London and helped the Bees to establish themselves in English football’s elite.
His arrival at United is the latest indication that Amorim is fully backing his attack this season, with the team proving a tricky opponent for any side. However, the Portuguese’s thirst for victory looks set to see United spend heavily in pursuit of results, with a minimum of £60 million needed to land Mbeumo’s signature.
WHAT NEXT FOR BRYAN MBEUMO?
The forward looks set to make his debut at Old Trafford during a crunch clash against Arsenal on the opening matchday. He adds to a frontline already boasting stars such as Cunha and Amad Diallo, while the likes of Mainoo and Ugarte can ease the pressure on Bruno Fernandes in midfield.
