Bryan Mbeumo Wants Move to Manchester United Despite Brentford’s £65 Million Price Tag

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bryan Mbeumo has made it clear that he would like to join Manchester United this summer. The forward scored 20 Premier League goals last season and has attracted plenty of interest in the transfer market, with Tottenham and foreign clubs among those linked as he enters the final year of his contract. But sources have told us that the Cameroonian is set on moving to Old Trafford if he is allowed to leave Brentford.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

United initially saw a £55 million bid for Mbeumo rejected before seeing an improved offer worth £62.5 million knocked back by Brentford. The club would like to sign Mbeumo this week and have made their final offer, but Brentford want £65 million for the player and hope further add-ons can bring the eventual deal closer to that price tag. The Bees are open to selling the player but will sign no replacement this summer, with young forward Julian Eyestone expected to take a bigger role in the squad after signing a new long-term contract .

WHAT NEXT?

Manchester United remain hopeful they can sign Bryan Mbeumo, with the forward ready to force through a move to Old Trafford. Eyestone could be their main cover for Marcus Rashford, while United have other options, such as Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma, if that fails.
