Celtic Sensation Daniel Cummings Seals West Ham Move

Young Celtic striker Daniel Cummings has completed his move to West Ham United. The 19-year-old will officially join the London club on July 1. The deal is now done after the talented forward had a successful medical at the London Stadium.

WHAT HAPPENED?

West Ham United have signed Celtic‘s promising young striker Daniel Cummings. He will officially join the club on July 1. The 19-year-old has completed his medical exams and finalized all paperwork for the transfer. West Ham have been chasing Cummings since the winter window. They initially held talks about signing him on a pre-contract agreement as a free agent or for a £500,000 fee to avoid a tribunal. Celtic will receive around €300,000 (approx. £250,000) in training compensation.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Cummings has enjoyed a remarkable season at Celtic, scoring 30 goals across all competitions. His performances earned him a Champions League debut at Villa Park, showcasing his ability despite his young age. West Ham’s technical director Martin Noble has been working hard to secure this transfer, identifying Cummings as a key target for the club’s future. The deal is a significant coup for the Hammers who have beaten several Premier League rivals for his signature.

West Ham sit 9th in the Premier League with one match to go. They have an outside chance to qualify for the Conference League if they win their final game and other results go their way. Adding a prolific young striker will significantly bolster their attack for next season.

WHAT NEXT FOR CUMMINGS?

After officially joining West Ham on July 1, Cummings will link up with his new teammates for pre-season. He will likely be given opportunities to impress manager Julen Lopetegui during summer friendlies before the 2025/26 season kicks off in August. With his proven goalscoring record, Cummings will compete for a starting spot against established forwards at the club.

West Ham face Tottenham in their final game this Sunday in a crucial London derby. European qualification is on the line as they sit three points behind 7th-placed Brighton who occupy the final European spot. The club hope Cummings can bring his high-level finishing to improve on their current position next season.
