Christian Comotto Set to Join Spezia on Loan from AC Milan
AC Milan’s young midfielder, Christian Comotto, will have his medical check and sign with Spezia today. The 17-year-old will join the Serie B side on a season-long loan.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Comotto impressed during Milan‘s pre-season tour, playing well in their 9-0 friendly win over Perth Glory.
The young defensive midfielder is highly-rated by Milan, and they hope he can earn valuable playing time in Serie B.
Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri admitted he wanted to keep Comotto around to play in cup competition, but his lack of Serie A opportunities ultimately made a loan the best choice.
Comotto is expected to start for Spezia and be an important player for the club during his loan move.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Comotto is a Milan academy product who broke into the first-team squad in the second half of last season and featured once in Serie A and twice in the Coppa Italia.
The Italy Under-19 international replaces Jason Holaj on loan. Holaj, who was due to move to Serie B, will link up with a Serie A side before joining a European club on loan in the new year.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR AC MILAN FC?
Spezia kick-start their Serie B campaign with a home clash against Brescia on Friday, August 23.
At the time of writing, AC Milan’s first match comes in the Coppa Italia where they face Bari in the first round of the competition.
