Christopher Nkunku Set for AC Milan Move in €35m Deal
Christopher Nkunku is set to join AC Milan after agreeing on a €35 million transfer fee plus add-ons with Chelsea. The forward has agreed to personal terms and will sign a five-year contract with the Italian club as per recent reports.
WHAT HAPPENED?
AC Milan and Chelsea have finalized Nkunku‘s transfer agreement orally and will now prepare and exchange documents to finalize the deal. Nkunku accepted Milan’s five-year contract offer on Wednesday, agreeing to take a pay cut, with wages reportedly under €5 million per year. Milan quickly moved in for Nkunku after their previous striker targets Victor Boniface and Conrad Harder fell through for a variety of reasons, with talks progressing quickly between the clubs.
AC MILAN AND CHELSEA: SEASON PERFORMANCE SO FAR
AC Milan has started the 2025-26 Serie A season looking to improve on last year’s eighth-place finish. After the opening game, Milan sits in the bottom half of the league with a loss in their league opener. The team’s goal-scoring has been inconsistent, making the arrival of Nkunku even more important. Chelsea, meanwhile, finished last season in fourth place and has started this campaign with mixed results, currently sitting in the top five after four points in two matches and trailing early leaders by two points.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR NKUNKU AND BOTH CLUBS?
Nkunku’s arrival gives Milan another option in attack, especially ahead of their next match against Lecce in Serie A. Lecce are, among with Milan’s last opponent Cremonese, a candidate to be relegated, making it a crucial early-season match. Chelsea, on the other hand, could use the proceeds from the transfer to pursue new targets before the transfer window closes. Milan’s primary goal this season is to contend for the title and secure Champions League football, whereas Chelsea wants to rebound from a slow domestic start.
