Christopher Nkunku Set for AC Milan Move in €42 Million Deal

Christopher Nkunku is about to join AC Milan from Chelsea for up to €42 million. The deal includes add-ons. The clubs are close to finalizing the transfer, which is set to be completed before the transfer window closes.

WHAT HAPPENED?

AC Milan and Chelsea have agreed on Christopher Nkunku‘s transfer. Milan will pay €37 million, with an extra €5 million in bonuses possible. Nkunku’s contract is for five years. There’s also a sell-on clause, giving Chelsea a part of any future sale. Both clubs negotiated the details for days. Milan’s final offer was more than their first, showing they really want to improve their squad. The transfer should be official soon after paperwork and medical exams are completed. Recent reports indicate that talks with Chelsea about Nkunku are progressing quickly.

WHY MILAN WANTED NKUNKU

The 27-year-old Nkunku had injury troubles at Chelsea but scored eight goals and provided four assists in 22 league games last season. Milan believes he can bring creativity and goals to their team. Last season, Milan finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on European competition, and they often struggled in tight games despite scoring 71 goals. Signing Nkunku shows Milan’s commitment to catching up with rivals like Inter and improving their performance in Europe. Nkunku can play as an attacking midfielder or winger, giving coach Stefano Pioli more choices in attack.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Milan started their Serie A season against Cremonese last weekend. Cremonese was back from the Serie B, but still managed to win at the San Siro, and the Rossoneri will try to change the trend in their next match of the campaign, against Lecce. Milan are one of the favourites for the title but know that Napoli and Juventus are strong rivals. Chelsea, in contrast, are preparing for the new season without Nkunku. They finished fourth in the Premier League last season, qualifying for the Champions League, and are currently fifth in the league. Milan fans hope Nkunku’s arrival will help them challenge for the title and do better in Europe. If he settles well, Nkunku could become a Serie A star quickly.
