Club Brugge Agree Deal to Sign Aleksandar Stanković from Inter Milan
Club Brugge have agreed to sign young midfielder Aleksandar Stanković from Inter Milan. The deal includes both buy-back and sell-on clauses.
WHAT HAPPENED?
After weeks of talks, Inter Milan and Club Brugge finalized the transfer of 19-year-old Aleksandar Stanković. Club Brugge wanted the Serbian midfielder as an ideal replacement for Ardon Jashari, who will leave the Belgian club. Brugge will pay Inter €10 million for Stanković. The Italian side will have a buy-back option set at €22 million, which could rise to €25 million based on certain conditions. The player accepted Brugge’s contract proposal, and official confirmation is expected soon.
STANKOVIĆ’S RISE AND SEASON SO FAR
Stanković is the son of Inter legend Dejan Stanković. He is considered one of the most promising talents to come through Inter’s youth system. Last season, he spent time on loan at Luzern in Switzerland, where he gained valuable first-team experience. While Inter are Serie A title contenders, Stanković has not played for their senior squad this season. Therefore, he decided to move permanently in search of more minutes. Club Brugge finished second in the Belgian Pro League last season, just behind champions Union Saint-Gilloise. They are working to strengthen their squad for another title challenge.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CLUB BRUGGE AND INTER?
Club Brugge are preparing to integrate Stanković as they try to fill the gap left by Jashari’s likely exit. They finished just above Anderlecht last season. Brugge open their new campaign against Sint-Truiden, who finished mid-table last year. For Inter, the buy-back clause means they can monitor Stanković’s development in Belgium. Inter will start their Serie A season against Parma on the opening matchday. They aim to close the gap to last season’s champions Napoli at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Club Brugge hope their new signing will help them start strong in the league.
