Club Brugge Stand Firm as AC Milan Pursue Ardon Jashari
Club Brugge directors say negotiations with AC Milan for midfielder Ardon Jashari are paused. This shows Brugge’s desire to keep their key player for another season.
NEGOTIATIONS COME TO A HALT
Brugge‘s sporting director Devy Rigaux and CEO Bob Madou explained that talks with Milan have stopped and Milan knows Brugge’s stance. They believe Jashari‘s “cycle has not yet been completed” there. This means they want him to stay till 2026. They insist Milan’s latest offer was not enough to make them sell the 22-year-old who was acquired last year in a £19m deal.
According to a previous report, Club Brugge demands a fixed asking price of €40 million for Ardon Jashari.
Madou said “we’re starting from the assumption” that Jashari won’t leave this summer. Rigaux shared his views, adding if Jashari continues, many top clubs could show up for him in future windows.
IMPACT ON CLUBS AND PLAYER
Jashari is a star figure for Brugge with four goals and six assists in 52 matches last season. Club Brugge are the runner-ups in the Belgian League last season behind USG and want to challenge for the Belgian title this campaign.
A previous report confirmed that Ardon Jashari was awarded the Belgian Pro League Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year for 2024/25.
On the other hand, AC Milan, who’ve recently appointed Massimiliano Allegri as head coach, want to add Jashari to their midfield after acquiring Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric. The Swiss midfielder wants to leave for Milan with whom a five-year personal agreement is in place but the clubs remain apart.
LOOKING AHEAD
If the negotiations fail, Jashari becomes a central figure at Brugge and continues excelling there. Consequently, 2021 Serie A champions Milan, who finished eighth in Serie A for the 2024/25 season might have to look elsewhere to address their midfield issues. Brugge opens their league season this weekend and prepares for the opening game against Mechelen while Milan plays their season’s first game in the middle of August. Attention now turns to whether Milan will return with a bigger offer for Jashari or his future will be resolved in the January window.
According to a previous report, AC Milan aims to qualify for Europe in the upcoming Serie A season,
