Como Agree €14m Fee for AZ Alkmaar’s Rising Star Jayden Addai

Como are close to signing 19-year-old Dutch winger Jayden Addai from AZ Alkmaar after agreeing on a €14 million fee. They are now negotiating his contract.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Italian club, managed by Cesc Fàbregas, secured a deal with AZ Alkmaar for Jayden Addai. Como outbid Bologna to sign the talented winger, whose AZ contract lasts until 2029. Addai played 35 times for AZ’s senior team last season, scoring three goals despite injuries. He also scored four goals in AZ’s 2023 UEFA Youth League win. Como raised their bid until AZ accepted the €14 million offer.

WHY THIS DEAL MATTERS

Addai is considered one of the best young talents in Dutch football. Last season, he played only 652 senior minutes due to injuries but impressed in cup and league matches. He was even more impressive for Jong AZ, scoring seven goals and three assists in just 12 Eerste Divisie appearances. Como’s push to sign him shows their desire to strengthen for the upcoming Serie A season after finishing last season in the middle of the table. They want more attacking options for the tough campaign ahead.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR COMO AND ADDAI?

Como are working quickly to finalize Addai’s contract. Their opening match is against Lazio, who finished sixth last season. Como want Addai to join the team soon to improve their attack and help them stay in Serie A. If the deal is completed, Addai will be a key player to watch in the 2025/26 Serie A season.
