Como Officially Bid to Sign Álvaro Morata from Galatasaray
Como have made an official offer to sign Spanish striker Álvaro Morata from Galatasaray as the player refuses to return to parent club AC Milan.
THE BIG PICTURE
Morata is open to joining Cesc Fabregas’s side, who are back in Serie A after 20 years, and talks are ongoing. Milan and Gala will have to first agree to end his loan early. AC Milan paid €9 million to sign Morata from Atleti in January before sending him on loan to Galatasaray for six months. That deal was extended in June for another 18 months after he helped the Turkish side win the domestic league and Turkish Cup. Morata has scored 37 goals for Galatasaray and won five titles, including the Turkish Super League twice.
Fabregas recently appreciated Morata in the media, calling him a sensible young man, and believes he can lead Como to their target of surviving in Serie A in their second season back up as they aim to qualify for Europe. Morata is appreciated by Galatasaray and is open to signing long term as the club made him their highest-ever earner with a salary of €32 million net in four years.
THEN WHAT?
Como, after finishing midtable in Serie A, will try to push for European qualification in their second season, and interest from MLS clubs could now tempt Morata. Milan could be open to a sale as it opens up space in their wage bill as they will be without European football this season.
WHAT NEXT?
Morata’s stunning season means Galatasaray will take time to discuss his permanent transfer with Milan after they earlier decided not to pay the staggering €60 million buy option. Such a deal would affect their move for Ardon Jashari and make Morata their club-record signing, as his goals have helped them close in on a fourth title while AC Milan struggle in the bottom half. After initially joining Galatasaray for six months in January 2026, Morata extended his loan stay until January 2028 and reportedly had an option to make the move permanent.
