Como Sign Alex Valle in €6 Million Transfer
Como have signed Barcelona defender Alex Valle for around €6 million. They triggered his release clause after his strong performances on loan since January.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Como completed the signing of Barca left-back Alex Valle for about €6 million. This includes a €4 million base fee and €2 million in add-ons. The 20-year-old impressed head coach Cesc Fabregas during his initial loan spell and has now earned a permanent stay. Valle has played in all of Como’s Serie A matches since joining, becoming a key player in the process.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Valle’s transfer ends his Barcelona journey after coming through La Masia, their renowned youth academy. The young defender started the 2024/25 season on loan at Celtic before moving to Como in January. While Barca initially didn’t include a buy option in the loan, Valle had a €6 million release clause that Como triggered. Valle had interest from three clubs, but ultimately chose to commit to Como.
WHAT VALLE BRINGS TO COMO
The young left-back has become a key player in Fabregas’ system at Como. Valle’s technical skills help Como build from the back while his composure strengthens their defence. He earned a regular starting position and impressed both the manager and supporters. Como are currently 12th in Serie A, having earned promotion last season, and are trying to build a strong squad for next season.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR COMO?
With Valle’s permanent signing, Como are shaping their squad for next term. The club has made an ambitious long-term move which shows their intent to establish themselves in Serie A. Coach Cesc Fabregas, who personally requested Valle’s loan in January, has stayed at Como despite interest from several other Serie A clubs and a meeting with RB Leipzig. Valle and Como will play Torino in their final match of the season this weekend, looking to end their campaign on a high.
