Conrad Harder Officially Joins RB Leipzig in €26m Deal from Sporting CP
Danish striker Conrad Harder is the newest RB Leipzig player. He signed a long-term contract after a €26 million transfer from Sporting CP. The 20-year-old joins Leipzig’s major effort to rebuild their attack for the 2025/26 season. A recent report confirmed that RB Leipzig and Sporting CP have reached an agreement for Harder’s transfer here.
HARDER COMPLETES MOVE TO LEIPZIG
Harder comes to Leipzig after a strong season with Sporting CP, where he scored 13 goals and made 10 assists. He helped Sporting win the Portuguese Primeira Liga and the domestic cup. The transfer was finalized quickly without any last-minute issues. Harder signed a five-year contract, keeping him at Leipzig until 2030.
Club sporting director Marcel Schäfer described him as “tall, physically and mentally strong, aggressive, with a lot of pace and a very dangerous left foot.” Schäfer is confident Harder will quickly adapt to Leipzig’s intense attacking style.
LEIPZIG’S REBUILD AFTER LOSING STARS
RB Leipzig missed out on European football last season for the first time since joining the Bundesliga and finished 7th. During the summer, they lost key attackers Benjamin Sesko, Xavi Simons, and Loïs Openda. Openda went on loan to Juventus, while Sesko and Simons joined Premier League teams. Reports indicate that RB Leipzig hopes Conrad Harder will boost their attack after losing star attacker Benjamin Sesko.
Leipzig signed Harder and Brazilian striker Rômulo as replacements. They also acquired new midfielders Yan Diomande and Johan Bakayoko. Leipzig’s start to the new season has been mixed: a first-round DFB Cup win, a 6-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, and a league victory over Heidenheim.
After the international break, they play Mainz on September 13. Currently, Leipzig is mid-table, above Mainz. They have work to do to return to the Bundesliga’s top spots.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM HARDER AND LEIPZIG
Harder has international experience and debuted for Denmark in March 2025. He is expected to be a key figure in coach Ole Werner’s new Leipzig attack. The team will rely on his goal-scoring and physical presence as they aim to climb the Bundesliga table.
RB Leipzig’s upcoming match against Mainz is crucial. Both teams need points to stay in the European qualification race. As of now, Leipzig is three points behind the early front-runners and just two points ahead of Mainz. Harder’s quick adaptation could be decisive for Leipzig’s ambitions this season.
