Cristiano Ronaldo Rules Out FIFA Club World Cup Comeback

Cristiano Ronaldo said he will not play in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. This is despite getting several offers and invitations from teams. The decision comes just days before the tournament starts in the United States.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Ronaldo talked about his future, saying he is “almost decided” not to join the 2025 Club World Cup. He said he had talks and many offers but chose to say no. “You have to think about the short, medium and long term,” Ronaldo said.

This shows he made a careful decision and didn’t just think about what is right now. Earlier, unique transfer rules for the tournament led to rumors of a last-minute move for Ronaldo.

WHY RONALDO WON’T BE THERE

Ronaldo’s current club, Al Nassr, did not qualify for the 2025 Club World Cup. Only four clubs from the Asian Football Confederation are playing, and Al Nassr missed out. The teams are Al Hilal, Urawa Red Diamonds, and Al Ain.

Without Al Nassr, Ronaldo would have had to join another team to play. He got offers from these teams, showing he is still in demand. But the timing wasn’t right for him.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR RONALDO AND THE CLUB WORLD CUP

The new-look FIFA Club World Cup starts on June 14 and features top clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. It also includes Chelsea, River Plate, and Inter Miami. Even without Ronaldo, the tournament will get major attention with Lionel Messi playing for Inter Miami.

As for Ronaldo, he is preparing for the UEFA Nations League final with Portugal against Spain. After his contract with Al Nassr ends in June, all eyes will be on his next move. Any decision will consider his career length and impact on and off the pitch, as he turns 40.
