Cyril Ngonge Set for Torino Move as Napoli and Torino Strike €18m Deal
Cyril Ngonge is set to join Torino from Napoli. The Belgian winger is moving on loan with an option to buy. This transfer aims to give Ngonge more playing time and revive his career after a tough time in Naples.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Torino and Napoli have agreed on a deal for Cyril Ngonge. The 24-year-old will join Torino on loan for €1 million, with a buy option of €11 million. Ngonge is due for a medical check on Thursday. If Torino buys him, he’ll sign a contract until 2029. As confirmed in a previous report, this deal is structured to facilitate his move while providing Torino with enhanced attacking depth.
Ngonge joined Napoli in January 2024 but played only a few games since moving from Hellas Verona. Torino manager Marco Baroni, who previously worked with Ngonge, helped make the deal happen.
TORINO’S NEED FOR ATTACKING DEPTH
Torino finished last season in 11th place in Serie A, scoring just 39 goals in 38 matches, the 4th worst defense form team that were not relegated. They struggled in attack and missed the European qualification by 21 points. Ngonge’s arrival is seen as a key move to boost their offense for the upcoming Serie A campaign. The Belgian winger is known for his dribbling and creativity. He might become an important starter, offering new options from the flanks. His previous time under Baroni at Verona was the most productive of his career.
WHAT COMES NEXT?
Ngonge is expected to finish his medical and sign with Torino before joining the squad for preseason. Torino opens their Serie A campaign against Inter Milan, last season’s runner ups. They aim to close the gap to teams in the top half and push for a Europa Conference League spot.
Meanwhile, Napoli is close to signing Vanja Milinković-Savić from Torino to strengthen their goalkeeping options. For both clubs, these moves are important as they prepare for a challenging new season starting in August.
