Daiki Hashioka Seals Move from Luton Town to Slavia Prague

Slavia Prague have signed Daiki Hashioka from Luton Town. The Japanese international has agreed to a contract until June 2029.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Hashioka completed his transfer from Luton Town to Slavia Prague. He signed a four-year deal after passing his medical. Hashioka joined Luton in January 2024, but first-team opportunities were limited. He made 27 league appearances in England. After days of speculation, the move was quickly finalized. Hashioka will join his new teammates as they prepare for the Czech First League season.

WHY THE MOVE MATTERS

Hashioka, 26, arrived at Luton Town with high hopes but struggled for game time. He often played out of position and lacked regular starts. Luton Town recently faced challenges, finishing in the EFL Championship relegation zone. Meanwhile, Slavia Prague won the Czech First League title again. Slavia Prague wanted Hashioka for a stronger defense and international experience.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR HASHIOKA AND BOTH CLUBS?

Hashioka is expected to join Slavia Prague’s pre-season preparations, but he might miss the start of fitness training. Slavia Prague aims to keep their league title and improve in European competitions, starting the next season. Luton Town will now focus on rebuilding and challenging for promotion after losing key players. Slavia Prague will start their League campaign at the end of July, while Luton Town will start their league campaign in August. Fans will be curious to see if Hashioka can use this fresh start to regain his form and return to the Japanese national team.
