Damien Comolli Joins Juventus on Three-Year Deal

Juventus have confirmed Damien Comolli as their new General Manager with a three-year contract. The 52-year-old former Toulouse president will oversee the men’s football department and marketing and commercial operations.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Juventus Football Club have announced Comolli‘s appointment as their new General Manager, who will stay at the club until 2028. The Frenchman has inked a three-year contract and will report directly to CEO Maurizio Scanavino. In his new position, Comolli will manage the men’s football department while also overseeing the club’s marketing and commercial sectors. Former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, currently Director of Football Strategy, will report to Comolli in the new organisational framework.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Comolli has significant experience, having previously served as sporting director at various top European clubs, including Fenerbahçe, Liverpool and Saint-Étienne. He also headed the football department at Tottenham Hotspur before becoming president of Toulouse. His appointment comes at a critical time for Juventus, who finished fourth with 70 points in Serie A this season, securing a spot in the Champions League but falling 12 points behind winners Napoli. The Bianconeri are hopeful that Comolli’s proven talent recognition and football operations abilities will help close the gap on the top three clubs in Italy.

JUVENTUS’ SCHEDULE

With the summer transfer window approaching, Comolli is expected to immediately focus on bolstering the squad for the 2025-26 season. His initial responsibilities may involve deciding on the futures of current players and identifying transfer targets that might help Juventus close the 12-point gap on Serie A champions Napoli. The club will also be preparing for their return to the Champions League, where they will seek to make a strong impression after earning qualification with their fourth-place finish. As Juventus tries to reclaim their place as Italy’s dominant force, Comolli’s scouting and recruitment expertise will be essential.
