Darwin Nunez Edges Closer to Al Hilal Switch After Liverpool Agreement

Darwin Nunez is close to moving to Al Hilal after Liverpool and the Saudi club reached a verbal agreement. Now, they need to finalize personal terms with Nunez. Al Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi is eager to sign the Uruguayan striker. Recent updates indicate that Nunez is in discussions with Al Hilal regarding a transfer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Al Hilal and Liverpool agreed on a transfer fee of around €65-70 million. Nunez, 26, is open to joining the Saudi club due to their long-term plan and Inzaghi’s role as head coach. He has had successful initial talks with the club. Completing personal terms is the main task now, and Al Hilal have made an offer to sign Darwin Nunez and are in advanced talks to acquire the striker.

WHY THIS IS A BIG MOVE

Nunez moved to Liverpool from Benfica in 2022. Last season, he scored five goals and had three assists in the League as Liverpool finished as winners with 84 points in the Premier League 10 points ahead of Arsenal. It’s noteworthy that Nunez impressed during the pre-season, showcasing his potential under the club’s management.

Al Hilal were the runner-ups in the Pro League and start the new season under Inzaghi. The Italian coach sees Nunez as a key addition, and his role in the move highlights Al Hilal’s ambitions. AC Milan and Juventus also wanted Nunez, but the €65-70 million fee was too high for them.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days if Nunez agrees to a contract with Al Hilal. Al Hilal, who finished as runners-up in the Saudi Pro League last season, are keen to add key players to strengthen their squad.

There is little time for Liverpool to find a replacement at this late stage of the transfer window. Isak is one of the contenders for the spot freed up by Nunez, and the Reds may be waiting for the Uruguayan’s move away from Anfield to get another striker for the new season.
