Djordje Petrović Set for Bournemouth Move in £25 Million Deal

Djordje Petrović is about to join Bournemouth in a £25 million transfer from Chelsea. The Serbian goalkeeper will have a medical today and is ready to sign a long-term deal, starting a new phase in his Premier League career.

According to a previous report, Djordje Petrović is reportedly ready to join Bournemouth.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bournemouth and Chelsea agreed on a £25 million deal for Petrović, who was on loan at RC Strasbourg last season. The 25-year-old did well in Ligue 1, keeping ten clean sheets in 37 games and winning Strasbourg’s Player of the Season. He helped the team reach the UEFA Europa Conference League. Even though he played well, Petrović was not in Chelsea’s plans and was even left out of their Club World Cup team. Bournemouth acted fast, offering him the chance to be their top goalkeeper after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan ended.

He kept 10 clean sheets in 37 Ligue 1 games and helped Strasbourg qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

According to a previous report, Petrović was named Player of the Season at Strasbourg.

The move is expected to happen once Petrović passes his medical and signs a five-year deal.

WHY PETROVIĆ IS MOVING

Petrović joined Chelsea from New England Revolution in 2023 but didn’t play regularly due to tough competition. He wanted to play more, so he liked Bournemouth’s offer. Chelsea saw his sale as a good deal, buying him for £14 million two years ago. The fee gives Chelsea extra money to buy new players and improve their team after a poor 2024/25 season, finishing fourth and guaranteeing Champions League qualification.

According to a previous report, Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League last season, guaranteeing Champions League qualification.

Bournemouth, who were 12th last season, hope to improve their defense and move up the table under manager Andoni Iraola.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOURNEMOUTH AND PETROVIĆ?

Bournemouth want Petrović to bring stability to their goalkeeper position. They start the 2025/26 Premier League season against champions Liverpool. Bournemouth finished last season 9th with 56 points, just 9 points behind Nottingham Forest, the last team to qualify for the Conference League.

According to a previous report, Bournemouth finished 9th in the Premier League last season.

Petrović is expected to be their main goalkeeper, and the team aims for a mid-table or better finish. For Chelsea, the money from Petrović’s sale will help them buy new players as they try to rebuild and return to the top four. Petrović is expected to become a key player for Bournemouth and get the playing time he wants.
