Donnarumma’s Agent Hits Out At PSG Amid Contract Breakdown

Paris Saint-Germain are in trouble as Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent says the club has shown “zero respect” after four years. The goalkeeper’s future is now even more uncertain.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Gianluigi Donnarumma was left out of PSG’s squad for the UEFA Super Cup final, a move that indicates a significant change in how the club perceives him. His agent, Enzo Raiola, criticized PSG for altering contract conditions. Raiola claims Donnarumma was ready to take a pay cut, but the club didn’t keep its promises. PSG also signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille for over €40 million, indicating they are moving on from Donnarumma. Although his contract runs until June 2026, PSG is reportedly looking for a transfer fee of £26 million from clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City. Donnarumma’s team is also contemplating legal action against PSG as he is set to leave following being left out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup, as reported previously.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN’S CURRENT SITUATION

PSG had a fantastic 2024-25 season, winning four trophies, including their first Champions League title, with Donnarumma being key to that success. Now, however, the club is transitioning to a new main goalkeeper, as confirmed by reports indicating Chevalier is intended to take over the position. The club’s preference appears to be selling Donnarumma rather than allowing him to leave for free when his contract ends. Currently, PSG is preparing for the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur, where Chevalier is likely to play. Last season, PSG finished the Ligue 1 campaign as champions with only two losses.

WHAT NEXT FOR DONNARUMMA AND PSG?

Donnarumma is linked to several Premier League clubs and Inter Milan, but none have yet met PSG’s asking fee. The Italian international, who played more than 40 games last season, is determined not to leave under the club’s stipulated terms. For PSG, the focus now shifts to integrating Chevalier as their first-choice goalkeeper in both domestic and European competitions. Their upcoming match is set against Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup final. The English club won the Europa League, beating Manchester United in the final, but finished 17th in the Premier League last season and are regarded as strong opponents although they come to the match as underdogs. PSG aims to continue their success in both domestic and European contests with a victory against them.
