Eberechi Eze Set for Arsenal Move After Missing Crystal Palace Match

Arsenal is set to sign Eberechi Eze after he was left out of Crystal Palace’s squad for their European match, marking a potential shift for both clubs before the transfer window closes.

What Happened?

Eze was pulled from Palace‘s squad following a discussion with manager Oliver Glasner, shortly after Arsenal scheduled a medical for the player. Arsenal will pay £60 million initially for Eberechi Eze, with an additional £7.5 million possible as add-ons. Personal terms are nearly finalized, and he is expected to complete the transfer in the near future. Tottenham was previously in the race for Eze, but Arsenal sped up their pursuit after Kai Havertz suffered an injury. Eze started in Palace’s recent draw with Chelsea and is one of their most important players.

Arsenal and Palace: The Season So Far

Arsenal has made a strong start to the Premier League campaign and is currently top of the table after their narrow 1-0 win at Manchester United. While Bukayo Saka has been in good form, Arsenal has lacked creativity and their attack is slim since Havertz’s injury. Eze scored 12 league goals and assisted five more last season, with one goal already scored this season. Palace started their Premier League campaign with a draw against Chelsea, but won the Community Shield against Premier League champions Liverpool. Arsenal now faces Leeds United, while Palace hosts Nottingham Forest at home, in the middle of their Conference League against Fredrikstad.

What Next for Both Clubs?

The Gunners expect to finally sign Eze, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a No. 8, after multiple failed approaches to rivals for starring players, including Havertz. Meanwhile, Palace will now look to reinvest the money generated from Eze’s sale and try to strengthen their squad in the final days of the summer window before the international break begins.
