Edon Zhegrova Unveiled as Juventus’ New Number 11
Juventus have signed Kosovan winger Edon Zhegrova from Lille. He is their new number 11. The transfer deal between Lille and Juventus is finished for a fee of €20 million, including bonuses. Zhegrova has a contract until June 2030 and will boost the team’s attack.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Zhegrova joined Juventus after long talks with Lille, completing the move on deadline day. Juventus will pay around €14.3 million plus potential bonuses. The 26-year-old passed his medical on Monday and signed his contract. He was one of Lille’s best players last season, having scored eight goals and provided six assists in 32 league outings. Zhegrova wanted to move to Serie A. He is now in Turin, ready to train with his new team and will wear shirt number 11.
JUVENTUS AND LILLE IN FOCUS
Juventus hope Zhegrova will enhance their attack. Coach Igor Tudor needs more creative options. Juventus finished last season in fourth place in Serie A, securing Champions League football, but often struggled in attack. They must catch up to teams like Inter Milan and Napoli. Lille finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, missing out on the Champions League. The departures of players like Jonathan David, who left Lille to join Juventus, have hurt the team, which needs an attacking revamp.
WHAT NEXT FOR ZHEGROVA AND JUVENTUS?
Zhegrova joins Juventus, a team serious about challenging for the Serie A title this season. He had 27 goal contributions (15 goals, 12 assists) in Ligue 1 last season and led Lille in successful dribbles. Juventus face Inter Milan in the league after the international break who lost their last match to Udinese, which could bring Zhegrova his debut. He needs to perform to help the team continue its winning record as they are level on points at the top of the table with Cremonese, AS Roma and Napoli.
