Enzo Maresca Confirms Axel Disasi And Raheem Sterling Remain Out Of Chelsea Squad

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says there is “no way back” for Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling. Both players, along with some others, are not part of the first team. Maresca’s new plans this season do not include them.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling were experienced players at Chelsea. Yet, Maresca excluded them for poor performances last season. They have been left out of the club’s activities since July. Chelsea wanted to sell them in the summer but could not. Raheem Sterling, in particular, is not wanted at the club, especially after struggling during his loan spell at Arsenal last season. They will remain sidelined at Chelsea till January at least, as the club has offered him to Napoli according to reports.

CHELSEA’S SEASON SO FAR

Chelsea are seventh in the Premier League with eight points from four matches. Their last match saw them draw 2-2 against Brentford. There have been new arrivals at the club which is still searching for consistency. As Chelsea aim for a top-four finish, they must balance domestic fixtures with EFL Cup games. Players like Disasi and Sterling are missing, which is already showing an impact on the team. Chelsea completed a deal worth up to £51 million with Palmeiras for Estevao, and they play Bayern Munich for the Champions League and Manchester United next as noted in a recent update.

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR STERLING AND DISASI?

Sterling and Disasi will be out of the team at least till January. They will continue to train separately till they can find places elsewhere. Chelsea currently do not have squad depth and are heavily reliant on new players. As the fixtures start building up, the Blues will require Sterling and Axel to step up to fill the leadership gap.
