Equi Fernández Transfer to Bayer Leverkusen Now Imminent

Bayer Leverkusen are close to signing Argentine midfielder Equi Fernández from Al Qadsiah for €30 million. The final approval is expected within 48 hours, following a recent report confirming that Bayer Leverkusen made a €30 million offer plus a 15% sell-on clause for Equi Fernández.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Leverkusen are finalizing a deal for Equi Fernández after his impressive performances in Saudi Arabia and the Paris Olympics. Al Qadsiah and Leverkusen agreed on this transfer, which includes a 15% sell-on clause for Fernández’s former club, Boca Juniors. Only the green light from Al Qadsiah is awaited, which is expected in two days. Fernández, who played 32 games last season for Al Qadsiah, missed their Super Cup semi-final, adding to speculation about his departure.

BAYER LEVERKUSEN’S MIDFIELD SHAKEUP

Bayer Leverkusen are rebuilding their midfield after finishing as runner ups in the Bundesliga but losing their opening game of the new season to Hoffenheim. The club is also linked with potential departures of midfielders Exequiel Palacios and Aleix Garcia. With Fernández, who is expected to bolster Leverkusen’s midfield, the team aims to bring competition for Robert Andrich and Palacios for two positions.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE NEXT GAMES

Leverkusen’s next match is against Werder Bremen. Currently, Leverkusen is at the lower half of the league, along with next opponents Bremen, as both teams lost their openers. As they look to strengthen their squad further, they have expressed interest in signing Lucas Vázquez, who will provide depth and reliability to Bayer Leverkusen’s squad. Fernández could make his Bundesliga debut as early as Matchday 2 if his transfer is completed in time.
