Ethan Nwaneri Signs New Long-Term Contract With Arsenal

Arsenal have confirmed that Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new five-year contract, securing the talented midfielder’s future at the club until 2030 after an impressive breakthrough season confirmed in the latest reports.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Nwaneri, who recently turned 18, enjoyed his first full campaign with Arsenal’s senior squad in the 2024-25 season. He made 37 appearances, scored nine goals, and provided two assists across competitions. Only four players in the squad scored more goals last season. Nwaneri’s previous contract was due to expire next year, but both the player and club have moved quickly to extend the deal. In his statement, Nwaneri said, “This is where I feel at home, and where I’m going to develop the best. I’m ready.”

WHY THIS DEAL MATTERS

The new contract comes after a remarkable season for both club and player. Nwaneri became the second-youngest player to reach ten goal involvements in Europe’s top five leagues last season. He made Premier League history by appearing as a 15-year-old against Brentford in 2022, and last season he broke more records, becoming one of the few to score three Premier League goals before his 18th birthday. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League, ten points behind champions Liverpool, keeping them firmly in contention at the top.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE NEW SEASON

Arsenal kick off their 2025-26 Premier League campaign next Saturday against Manchester United. The Gunners are considered strong contenders again, with Nwaneri expected to play a more prominent role. United ended last season in 15th and will hope to cause an upset. Arsenal’s next fixtures include games that will put the team, and its depth to the test and key early meetings with other title contenders. All eyes will be on Nwaneri as he looks to build on his breakout year and help Arsenal challenge for silverware.
