Fábio Silva Lands In Dortmund For Medical Ahead Of €25m Move

Portuguese striker Fábio Silva arrived in Dortmund today to complete his medical and sign with Borussia Dortmund. The agreement is in place with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Silva will sign a five-year contract with Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund will pay €22.5m plus €4m in add-ons. Silva scored 10 goals last season for Las Palmas in 24 La Liga matches. He said goodbye to his Wolves teammates after their match with West Ham before traveling to Germany. Silva is part of Dortmund’s plan to strengthen their attack ahead of the new Bundesliga season.

WHY DORTMUND CHOSE SILVA

Silva struggled for goals at Wolves, netting just five times and adding six assists in 72 Premier League appearances. However, after spells with Anderlecht, PSV, Rangers, and most recently Las Palmas in Spain, his form boosted his reputation, leading to teams across Europe watching his progress. Dortmund have been busy in the market, signing Aaron Anselmino and Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea, Yan Couto from Manchester City, and Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland. They hope Silva maintains his good form in Germany.

WHAT NEXT FOR DORTMUND AND SILVA?

Silva will undergo medical tests and sign with Dortmund, with a deal confirmation coming soon. Dortmund see themselves still chasing Bayern Munich, who lead the Bundesliga this season. They mid-table after a draw in their opening match, and are already three points behind Bayern and Frankfurt. Dortmund are eager to improve their standing, having finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season. Next up is a tough trip to Union Berlin. Dortmund hope Silva will be firing them to glory domestically and in Europe this season.
