FC Copenhagen Star Roony Bardghji Set to Leave as Contract Talks Collapse

Roony Bardghji will not sign a new contract with FC Copenhagen. This could lead to a summer transfer with many top European clubs interested in him.

WHAT HAPPENED?

FC Copenhagen and 19-year-old Roony Bardghji have stopped talks on a new contract. He will not extend his current deal, which ends in 2025. Copenhagen will likely sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Called the “Swedish Messi,” Bardghji joined Copenhagen in 2020. He became the club’s youngest player and scored in the Danish Superliga at age 16. Injuries, including a serious ACL tear, have limited him to six appearances this season.

Copenhagen is third in the Danish Superliga, nine points behind leaders Midtjylland with three matches left. Losing Bardghji is a major setback for the club’s future plans.

PREMIER LEAGUE INTEREST INTENSIFIES

Several Premier League clubs want Bardghji. Tottenham seems to have an edge in talks, with Bardghji interested in joining fellow Swede Lucas Bergvall there. Spurs think they can sign him for about £10 million, a low price for his potential.

Manchester City is also interested, with Pep Guardiola seeing Bardghji as a good addition to the attack. Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest are also watching the situation.

WHAT NEXT FOR BARDGHJI?

With the transfer window opening soon, many clubs across Europe are likely to contact Bardghji’s representatives. His decision not to extend his contract shows he’s ready to join a bigger club. Copenhagen will need to accept a lower transfer fee due to his contract status.

Bardghji needs to weigh his options, choosing between immediate playing time and joining a top club. Tottenham and rivals could get a great player at a low price, making smart decisions in the transfer window.
