Fenerbahçe Shift Focus to Jhon Durán as Sancho Talks Stall

Fenerbahçe is now aiming to sign Colombian striker Jhon Durán, as negotiations for Jadon Sancho are not advancing. The deal for Sancho remains unfinished.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Reports had linked Jadon Sancho with a move to Fenerbahçe, but the Turkish club is not in active talks for the England player. Instead, the club is accelerating its efforts to bring Jhon Durán back to European football. Officials have traveled to Colombia to persuade the 21-year-old to join. The club has submitted an official proposal to Al-Nassr, Durán’s current team. The forward, who joined Al-Nassr in January for €77 million, has impressed with 12 goals in 18 games but is reportedly open to returning after struggling to settle in Saudi Arabia.

MAJOR SQUAD OVERHAUL UNDER MOURINHO

This push comes as Fenerbahçe, managed by José Mourinho, aims to overhaul their squad to challenge for next season’s Süper Lig title. They also hope to make a stronger impact in European competitions. Durán’s arrival would bolster their attack, especially as Mourinho seeks proven young talent to lead his forward line.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR FENERBAHÇE AND DURÁN?

Talks between Fenerbahçe and Al-Nassr are ongoing, with optimism in Istanbul about reaching a deal. If successful, Durán could be unveiled before the club’s pre-season campaign begins in mid-July. Fenerbahçe’s first match of the new season will be in Champions League qualifying, where they will look to build early momentum. Al-Nassr will be reluctant to lose their top January signing after just half a season, but ongoing internal issues might influence Durán’s future.
