Fer López Joins Wolves in €25m Move from Celta Vigo

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed 21-year-old Spanish forward Fer López from Celta Vigo. He is the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window. López arrives on a five-year contract after a breakout season in La Liga. The player has expressed excitement about this new chapter in his career.

According to a previous report we published, Fer López has signed a five-year contract with Wolves.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Wolves have signed Fer López in a deal worth around €25 million. The young attacker is set to play in the Premier League for the first time. López had a successful debut for Celta Vigo last season. After making his senior debut in October 2024, he scored four goals in 20 appearances.

López is known for his versatility. He is comfortable on the right wing or in a central attacking role. Speaking after the move, López said, “I have a great opportunity in the Premier League and I’m very happy.” The deal comes as Wolves rebuild after selling first-team stars Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.

A PROMISING REBUILD AT MOLINEUX

López’s arrival signals Wolves’ commitment to youth and long-term planning. The team finished the 2024-25 Premier League season in 12th place. Manager Vitor Pereira has quickly reshaped the squad with ambitious talent. López played a major role in Celta Vigo’s seventh-place finish and qualification to European football. He brings top-flight experience against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Wolves raised significant funds from selling Cunha and Ait-Nouri. They are reinvesting in emerging prospects and hoping to climb higher up the standings this season.

LOOKING AHEAD: WOLVES AND LOPEZ

Wolves open their 2025-26 Premier League campaign at home against last season’s champions Manchester City on August 16. The club is three points ahead of the 13th-placed side and five points behind the top half as preseason begins. That highlights the need for more attacking firepower. López is expected to compete immediately for a starting role and add goals alongside Wolves’ new-look attack. Celta Vigo, meanwhile, will look to reinvest in their squad as they prepare to return to European football. With new faces and a new direction under Pereira, Wolves fans can be optimistic ahead of the new season.

According to a previous report we published, Matheus Cunha left Wolves to join Manchester United. We reported that Rayan Ait-Nouri joined Manchester City.
