Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has emphatically dismissed speculation linking captain Bruno Fernandes with a move to Real Madrid. In a press conference ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, Amorim stated: “Bruno Fernandes is going nowhere. He is going nowhere. He will not go nowhere.”

Context

Reports had emerged suggesting Real Madrid were interested in signing the 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder. The Spanish giants are reportedly seeking midfield reinforcements after being hit with a transfer embargo until January 2027 for financial breaches. However, they have received interim relief from the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowing them to register new players on a one-in-one-out basis.

Amorim’s Response

Amorim addressed the rumors in a light-hearted manner, initially asking reporters to name potential transfer targets in Spain. When told about the link to Fernandes, he firmly shut down any possibility of a move. The United coach also confirmed that the club’s transfer plans have not changed despite Real Madrid’s adjusted transfer situation.

Looking Ahead

Manchester United will face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday ahead of their clash on the weekend with rivals Manchester City. There isn’t much to play for in the League for Ruben Amorim’s team, but with the Europa League quarter-finals next week, winning that competition would mean that is the only chance for the Red Devils to return to European football next season.
