Florian Wirtz has talked about his future. He is grateful to play at one of Germany’s top clubs and hinted he might move abroad eventually. Meanwhile, rumors of a big transfer to Bayern Munich continue to build.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In a recent interview, Wirtz talked about his time at Bayer Leverkusen. He said, “I’m lucky to have so many excellent clubs right on my doorstep and to now be able to play for one of the best clubs in Germany and Europe. It’s definitely tempting for me to leave my comfort zone at some point and experience…”

His comments come at a big time. Many reports suggest the 21-year-old midfielder is close to moving to Bayern Munich. Recent updates say there is a basic agreement between Wirtz’s family and Bayern. But Leverkusen might ask for at least €150 million. Some top European clubs, like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid, are interested. But Wirtz seems to prefer a move to the Bundesliga champions, where he hopes to play with stars like Harry Kane.

BAYER LEVERKUSEN’S GREAT SEASON

Bayer Leverkusen have had a great 2024/25 season. They finished second in the Bundesliga, just behind Bayern Munich, after leading for much of the season. Wirtz has been a key player. He helped with 13 goals and 18 assists in all competitions and is now seen as one of Europe’s top young talents. His creativity and skill have been important to Leverkusen’s success and their Champions League qualification.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR WIRTZ AND THE CLUBS?

Leverkusen want Wirtz to move abroad if he leaves. This way, he won’t strengthen a direct rival. But Wirtz seems to prefer Bayern Munich. The clubs are expected to negotiate more in the coming weeks. Bayer Leverkusen’s next game is against Borussia Dortmund, who finished third, right behind them. Bayern Munich will play Mainz to secure their champion status. Where Wirtz will go is one of the biggest questions of this transfer window. We expect a decision before the new season begins.
