Franco Mastantuono to Sign with Real Madrid Until 2031

Real Madrid have made a big move to sign Franco Mastantuono, a talented young player from Argentina. He is set to sign a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2031. The 17-year-old from River Plate chose Madrid despite interest from other top European clubs. The transfer will go through once he turns 18 in August.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Madrid reached a deal with River Plate to sign Mastantuono for about €45 million. The midfielder will continue to play for River Plate until the end of 2025. This includes participating in the Club World Cup in the United States this summer. After that, he will join Madrid, with new coach Xabi Alonso personally approving the move. Mastantuono’s contract will have him as a key part of Madrid’s midfield until at least 2031. He will help fill the gap left by Luka Modric’s recent departure.

MASTANTUONO’S RISE AND REAL MADRID’S MIDFIELD PLAN

Mastantuono has already played 61 senior games for River Plate. He recently became the youngest player to appear for Argentina in a competitive match. Known for his vision, free-kick ability, and calmness on the field, Madrid see him as important to their midfield rebuild. After a successful season winning La Liga and the Champions League, the club aims to mix young talent with experienced stars as they plan for the future after Modric’s exit.

WHAT NEXT FOR MADRID AND MASTANTUONO?

Mastantuono will focus on River Plate’s upcoming fixtures and the Club World Cup before joining Madrid in August. Meanwhile, Madrid are getting ready for next season’s La Liga and Champions League campaigns. They hope Mastantuono can make an immediate impact. Madrid will start their La Liga title defense in August, with their first match against Girona, who were second last season. This summer, the club’s activity shows a clear commitment to building another dominant squad for the future.
