WHAT HAPPENED?

Liverpool suffered a disappointing defeat against Fulham, who handed the Reds a 3-2 loss at Craven Cottage. This meant Liverpool failed to go 14 points clear at the top of the table, but since Arsenal were held to a draw against Everton, their distance remains at a healthy 11 points to second place Gunners. Fulham’s goals came from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, and Rodrigo Muniz in a 14-minute first-half blitz, while Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz scored for Liverpool.

Liverpool’s two errors in the first half from Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson proved costly. While they were able to fight back after the break, they were unable to claw anything back from the tie. This marked Liverpool’s first Premier League away defeat of the season and ended their 26-match unbeaten run in the league.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Liverpool are still 11 points clear at the top after this defeat but have failed to extend their lead. Arsenal were held to a draw against Everton and failed to capitalise on the opportunity. Despite the loss, Liverpool remain favorites for the title, needing just 11 points from their remaining eight games to secure the championship.

DID YOU KNOW?

Liverpool have lost a Premier League away game after leading at half-time for the first time since January 2018, when they were beaten by Swansea City. The Reds had been unbeaten in 42 such games on the road since then.

WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

Liverpool will now play West Ham next weekend and have 7 matches left to the season, where they will still play against Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal. The team will look to bounce back and solidify their lead at the top of the Premier League table as the title race continues.
