Gabriel Moscardo Joins SC Braga on Loan from PSG

Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Moscardo is continuing his European journey. SC Braga and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed on a loan deal. Moscardo is already in Portugal and will have medical tests before joining Braga for a season-long loan. There is no buy option in the deal.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Moscardo, a 19-year-old defensive midfielder, struggled last season at Stade de Reims. He joined PSG from Corinthians in January 2024 but played just 10 matches for Reims. Seeking more playing time, he and PSG agreed to a loan move to Braga. The deal is for one year, with an option to extend. Sevilla and Real Betis were interested, but PSG chose Braga to help Moscardo develop further.

SC BRAGA’S PLANS FOR THE NEW SEASON

Braga finished fourth in the last Primeira Liga season and will play in the Champions League qualifiers. Under coach Carlos Vicens, Braga aims to compete with leaders Sporting CP and Benfica, as well as the team that beat them to 3rd place, Porto. Signing a talented player like Moscardo is part of Braga’s strategy to strengthen their midfield. They want to build squad depth for domestic and European campaigns. Braga’s first fixture of the new season is against Boavista.

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR MOSCARDO AND PSG?

This loan is important for Moscardo to gain experience and adapt to European football. PSG will closely monitor his progress, as they see him as a long-term prospect with a contract until 2028 according to reports. For Braga, integrating Moscardo could be vital to maintaining their position in Portugal’s top three and making a strong Champions League push. PSG will start their Ligue 1 title defense against Nantes, having secured the Ligue 1 title with room to spare last season as well as securing the Champions League and Coupe de France titles.
