Galatasaray And Monaco Agree €35m Transfer For Wilfried Singo

Galatasaray and AS Monaco have reached an important transfer agreement for Wilfried Singo. The Ivorian defender is close to joining the Turkish Süper Lig, with personal talks now happening.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Galatasaray and Monaco agreed on a €30 million fee, plus €5 million in bonuses. Monaco will also get 10% of any future transfer. After signing Eric Dier, Monaco has pushed Singo toward leaving. Contract talks are now between the player and his agent, but they are working on the details. Singo, 24, has played 60 times for Monaco since joining from Torino in 2023 and can play as both a center-back and right-back. Reports say Singo is open to the move, and the deal could be done this week.

GALATASARAY STRENGTHEN DEFENSE

Galatasaray finished as Turkish champions last season and aims to stay on top of the league with Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor close behind. The club wants to continue its dominance and go further in the Champions League group stage when the new season begins. Singo’s arrival is part of a summer plan by coach Okan Buruk to increase competition and depth at the back. Last season, Singo played over 40 matches across all competitions, making 3 assists and scoring 1 goal for Monaco. His defensive versatility and athleticism are seen as key improvements for Galatasaray, especially against top European teams.

WHAT’S NEXT?

After agreeing terms with Monaco, the next step is for Galatasaray to finalize the contract details directly with Singo and his representatives. The club’s goal is to complete the deal before their first Champions League group stage next month. Galatasaray is currently first in the Turkish Super Lig after winning their first three games without conceding. A smooth transfer could give Galatasaray a defensive boost as they aim to defend their league title and go far in Europe this season.
