Galatasaray Push for Victor Osimhen as Napoli Hold Firm on Price

Galatasaray are trying to sign Napoli’s striker Victor Osimhen. They have agreed personal terms with the Nigerian forward but despite engaging in advanced negotiation, they are finding it difficult to tie up the deal as Napoli are firm on receiving the player’s release clause in full. The Italian side rejected Galatasaray’s latest offer.

WHAT’S THE LATEST BETWEEN GALATASARAY AND NAPOLI?

Victor Osimhen completed a season-long loan at Galatasaray during 2024/25 and emerged as one of their key players over the course of the term, finishing with 37 goals and eight assists to his name from 41 matches. According to an analysis from a recent report confirms that Victor Osimhen scored 37 goals for Galatasaray last season. Napoli are now willing to make his move permanent and have agreed terms with the player over a potential transfer. However, they are finding it difficult to thrash out a deal with Napoli, who are not budging away from their €75m release clause, rejecting their recent offer of €50m plus €5m in bonuses from the Turkish side. Napoli are ready to negotiate and lower their demands but wouldn’t want to reduce the overall price by €20m. The player’s release clause is scheduled to expire on July 15, forcing Gala to conclude a deal swiftly. According to another report, Napoli values Victor Osimhen at €75 million.

WHY DOES OSIMHEN’S MOVE MATTER?

Galatasaray won the Turkish Süper Lig after finishing nine points clear of Fenerbahce and have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League. A previous report states that Galatasaray won both the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup last season, highlighting their strong performance. Osimhen’s contributions played a huge role in their success, and hence extending the player’s stay remains vital to top off their summer works. On the other hand, Napoli also won the Serie A and are keen on raising funds through Osimhen’s sale to continue a squad overhaul as Osimhen isn’t part of the plans for manager Antonio Conte. Napoli have identified Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez to replace Osimhen and are targeting the Uruguayan forward after seeing their initial bid for the forward get turned down.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR GALATASARAY AND NAPOLI?

Galatasaray don’t have a lot of time remaining if they wish to get Osimhen registered and furthermore, secure him without paying the release clause. Moreover, if Osimhen remains at Gala, rivals Napoli will be forced to accelerate their chase for Darwin Nunez. Antonio Conte’s side are keeping tabs on the Uruguayan striker as their alternative to Osimhen. A report indicates that Napoli is willing to let Jens Cajuste depart as he does not feature in their future plans, which could facilitate their transfer activities.
