Huijsen Passes Medical Ahead of £50m Real Madrid Move

Dean Huijsen has passed his medical tests in London. He is now set to move from Bournemouth to Real Madrid for £50 million. The 20-year-old Spanish defender will sign a five-year contract with Madrid. The club will pay his release clause in three parts over 18 months.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Real Madrid and Bournemouth have agreed that Huijsen can join the Spanish club before the FIFA Club World Cup in June. His representatives were in Madrid to discuss personal terms. The deal happened very quickly. Madrid started negotiations on May 13, and by May 16, the deal was nearly done. Huijsen passed his medical in London.

The agreement allows Huijsen to play Bournemouth’s last two Premier League games. This shows his commitment to help his team in their push for European qualification.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

This is one of the fastest transfers in recent Real Madrid history. It took only three days to complete. The Spanish champions are building a strong team for the Club World Cup in the United States. Huijsen will be part of new manager Xabi Alonso’s plans when he starts in June.

Bournemouth are 7th in the Premier League with 60 points from 36 games, just three points behind 6th place Newcastle. The Cherries are chasing their first European qualification. Although they’re losing a star player, the £50 million fee is good business for a player who has been at the club for only one season.

WHAT NEXT FOR HUIJSEN?

After finishing his games with Bournemouth, Huijsen will join Real Madrid for the FIFA Club World Cup in mid-June in the United States. Madrid are not just participating in the tournament; they are aiming to win it with their new team under manager Xabi Alonso.

The Spanish defender will be part of Real Madrid’s defense for the 2025-26 season. They are also trying to sign Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Liverpool do not want to release him early, before his contract ends on June 30. Real Madrid lead La Liga by 8 points with two games left. They plan to defend their title next season with Huijsen in their squad.
