Hull City Agree Deal to Sign Joel Ndala on Loan from Manchester City

Hull City is set to strengthen its attack with a loan deal for young forward Joel Ndala from Manchester City. The two clubs have agreed in principle, with final paperwork expected soon. Ndala is likely to join Hull for the 2025/26 Championship season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Ndala, a 19-year-old from Manchester, has been highly rated at City‘s youth academy. After a mixed loan spell in the Netherlands with PSV in 2024/25, he was recalled by the City. His next loan move was to Nottingham Forest in early 2025, where he struggled for playing time and did not score in his appearances. Hull have now moved quickly to secure Ndala’s services as they aim for promotion this season.

NDALA’S BACKGROUND AND HULL CITY’S AMBITIONS

Ndala has been a promising talent since his days with the England U19 team. At PSV, he played 12 matches in the second division, scoring once and assisting once, but did not break into the first team. Hull City, who finished just outside the play-off positions last season, are aiming to strengthen their squad to push for a top six finish. Adding a developing Manchester City talent like Ndala signals the club’s intent to bring more attacking options and creativity into their team.

Hull finished seventh in the league last season, just outside the promotion play-off places, and this season their start to the season has been scintillating. Apart from the odd blip, Griffiths’ side’s high-energy attacking style has left most defences in their wake, and Ndala will only make that attack stronger.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR HULL CITY AND NDALA?

The final paperwork and formalities for Ndala’s loan are expected to be completed soon. Hull City open their 2025/26 Championship campaign against Cardiff City next week. Last season, Hull were right in the race for promotion, until they hit a barren patch in March, winning just three of their final 11 league games, leaving them two points adrift of the playoff places, having played a game more than everyone above them in the table. If Ndala can impress, he could be the man to push Hull into the promotion mix. He shares his manager’s long-term ambitions to achieve something special at Hull City and in the short-term, he could be part of delivering a playoff push this season.
