Ibrahim Osman Set for Auxerre Move as Loan Deal with Brighton Agreed
Auxerre have agreed on a loan deal with Brighton to sign Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman. The deal includes an option to buy for €16 million. Osman is expected to arrive in France soon and complete a medical. He has rejected other offers for this opportunity.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 21-year-old Osman returns to the transfer market after a loan spell at Feyenoord. He played in 32 matches, scored four goals, and delivered three assists during the 2024/25 campaign. He was a regular for the Dutch side, but he now stands to leave Brighton permanently following a positive spell. The Seagulls have offered the player a two-year extension, but he reportedly believes there is no place for him in the team’s set-up.
An exit is thus in the offing, with Auxerre now close to signing him on loan ahead of the 2025 campaign with an option to purchase for €16 million. Mikkel Damsgaard’s stay “will spell the end of” Osman’s stint at Brighton. The Ghanaian trained at Cobham but was not a part of the team for the friendly against Real Betis, with this reportedly being the reason.
BRIGHTON EYE PSV STAR AS POTENTIAL OSMAN REPLACEMENT
Should Osman leave Brighton this summer, the Seagulls will be in need of a young winger to fill the void. As per the report, Roberto De Zerbi & co. are eyeing PSV star Isaac Babadi as a potential replacement. However, they are not the only ones interested.
The player is reportedly prioritised by Newcastle United, who are willing to splash a record fee for him. The Magpies are in the pole position to secure his signature, while Brighton and Arsenal are also in the equation.
WHAT NEXT FOR OSMAN?
An exit from Brighton this summer seems inevitable, with Osman close to belting a loan spell at Feyenoord with a move to Auxerre instead. Robson’s side are likely to purchase the player through the purchase option, after reportedly rejecting a club-record £9.1m deal for the player last month.
The player’s future thus hangs in the balance and he could be the subject of a last-minute bid from a Premier League rival.
AJ Auxerre finished strong last season, securing mid-table safety.
According to a previous report, AJ Auxerre have started talks with Bologna to sign Oussama El Azzouzi.
