WHAT HAPPENED?

The 34-year-old midfielder finalized his transfer on deadline day. Gündogan agreed to a three-year deal worth about €5 million per season, as noted in reports. He has already arrived in Istanbul for his medical checks.

Manchester City let their former captain leave for no transfer fee, saving on his wages. Discussions with Pep Guardiola were key in Gündogan’s decision to seek a new challenge in Turkey.

Additionally, he played 29 games for Manchester City in the Premier League this past season, scoring 4 goals and assisting 6 times, highlighting his impact at the club.

Galatasaray, the reigning Super Lig champions, lead the Turkish league, currently positioned two points ahead of rivals Fenerbahçe. Gündogan’s leadership and skills will help them maintain their dominance and improve in Europe. As of now, Galatasaray stands first in the Turkish Super Lig after winning their first two games without conceding.

WHAT NEXT FOR GUNDOGAN AND GALATASARAY?

Gündogan is expected to debut after the international break when Galatasaray hosts Trabzonspor. Trabzonspor is currently in fifth place, five points behind Galatasaray.

The team hopes Gündogan’s experience will be important in upcoming matches, both in the league and the UEFA Champions League. Galatasaray will face Real Madrid next, looking to strengthen their domestic lead and make a deeper run in Europe. Gündogan is set to lead the midfield for the next three seasons.
