Ilya Zabarnyi Pushes for PSG Move as Club Prepares Fresh Bid to Bournemouth

Paris Saint-Germain are getting ready to make a better offer for Bournemouth defender Ilya Zabarnyi. They agreed in June with the player to join the French team until 2030, as confirmed in recent discussions. Even though Tottenham is interested in Zabarnyi, he only wants to join the French champions, with talks to sign him currently in progress.

WHAT HAPPENED?

PSG is interested in signing Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi in this transfer window. Bournemouth initially wanted €34 million for the 22-year-old player, but PSG did not find that price acceptable. Reports suggest that PSG and the player have reached an agreement for a contract. Although Tottenham also wishes to sign Zabarnyi, negotiations between them and Bournemouth have yet to occur. PSG is prepared to make a new offer to Bournemouth to see if they can convince them to sell Zabarnyi, whose transfer fee is around €60 million according to recent sources.

BIGGER PICTURE: PSG AND BOURNEMOUTH’S FORM

PSG are the reigning Ligue 1 champions after securing another title, confirming their place at the top of French football and European competitions. Bournemouth, meanwhile, are aiming for a solid league performance following their 13th place finish in the Premier League last season. Zabarnyi played a significant role in Bournemouth’s domestic campaign, contributing to their defense and showcasing his talents as one of England’s promising young players, which has drawn PSG’s interest to bolster their own defense further.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Paris will face Nantes first, but just after the European Supercup where they face Tottenham for the trophy, in a match that sees the CL winners face the English Europa League champions. They are not only seeking to sign Zabarnyi but also anticipate adding a new goalkeeper and two strikers soon, while also looking for a new full-back and midfielder.
